my husband is in ITC after a bad accident on 2 April in which a tree fell on him, he was sedated for over a month, but is now awake. He seems to be progressing well, but for several days now I have noticed that he is not 'himself' and is saying some rather weird things. e.g., he asked my son to make sure his hammer was still in the cupboard next to his bed, he asked the nurse to phone me late at night and go in to see him (knowing I myself am disabled and not able to to this type of thing). He had a broken back 4 places, collar bone, shoulder blade, ribs back and front, damaged lung and a leg broken in 3 places. the leg is due to be operated on for the first time today, but my son reports that he has told the doctor he does not want it done. This is also not like him and out of character. he was on dialysis, had pneumonia, had a heart attack (now corrected with surgery) and at present still has a tracheotomy. I am most concerned about his state of mind, what is causing it?
