Gums Hurt On The Right Side, Pain In Right Ear, Sore Throat. Should Consult A Doctor Or Dentist?

On the right side of the gums hurts where the last tooth ends. It causes my right ear to hurt as well, sometimes my left ear would hurt, but rarely. This resulted me having a sore throat. I do not know what is wrong with me. I ate Panda express a few days ago and the end of my gums started hurting after that. What is wrong with me? Am I sick? Do I see a doctor or a dentist?

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding pain in ear following inflammation on gums and last tooth.

As per your observation it appears that your basic disease is in the gums of last teeth. as far as pain is there it is referred pain from last tooth and inflammed throat.

You should consult dentist / ENT doctor for it's treatment.

Regards.

Hello,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.

From the symptoms mentioned ,i suspect the pain and sore throat may be due to-Pericoronitis as a result of impacted wisdom tooth.

Take amoxycillin as well as metronidazole tablets along with analgesics.

Get a thorough clinical as well as x-ray evaluation done.

Depending on position as well as space available for tooth eruption,it has to be either extracted or flap overlying tooth has to be removed.

Gargle frequently with lukewarm saline.

Maintain oral hygiene well.

Take care.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

The above symptoms which you have mentioned are due to dental reasons, so i would suggest you to visit to the Dentist and get the checkup done.

Pain in the gums can be due to infection in the teeth adjacent to it ,pain in throat is referred.
There could also be a chance of impacted wisdom tooth.
A thorough clinical examination by the Dentist is required, take an OPG radiograph.
If required root canal treatment can be performed in the infected tooth.
A course of antibiotics and analgesics has to be taken.
At home take lukewarm saline and antispetic mouthwash rinses.

Hope this helps out,

Regards..

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hi,

Sore throat and ear pain often occur for reasons other than a regular bacterial or viral infection. Tooth infections and uvula infections, for instance, can cause irritation in the ears and throat.

Go to the dentist first maybe there is something wrong with your teeth that is making you get all these symptoms.

Use steam to ease breathing. Drink plenty of water and get appropriate amounts of sleep, and you should be feeling better shortly.
