Got Bitten By Dog, Had Stitches, Took Antibiotic, Swelling On Back Of Calf.

I got bit by a dog a little over a month ago on my calf , went to the er immediately and had the bite cleaned. The ER doc placed 4 stitches and gave me two antibiotics to take, one for 10 days and the other for 14 days and both meds were taken completely. I had swelling on the back of my calf when I went into the er and the doc didn t say anything about it. That swelling is still there as well as more swelling by the site that had stitches. I had nurses at work look at my leg and it was half and half if they thought the swellings were abscesses. Neither site is red, but painful to touch about 3/10. I don t know if this is normal or to have it checked out by my family physician

Hi,
from history it seems that there might be having hematoma giving rise to this problem.
Another possibility of having localized collection of pus surrounded by fibrosis.
Consult family physician and get examined.
Apply ice pack for few days.
Ok and take care.
