Gastroenteritis, Abdomial Pain, Nightsweats, Weight Loss, Vomiting. On Nexium. Advise?

Hi, My son almost 21 has been diagnosed with gastroenteritis. He has had tummy pain since a little boy which I now believe to be anxiety. He has night sweats and lots of sick tummies. Weight loss and more recently throwing up over a two week period, mostly bile as he doesn't feel like eating. His dr has said "no junk food or alcohol for 3 months". He has noticed a difference is he stays away from these things. When he did drink in the past, he got violently ill for a good 24 hrs afterwards. He has been put on Nexium. Thanks. Hi Patsy,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

It seems your son is having gastritis problem.

Nexium will decrease the acid secretion in the stomach and give relief from pain and vomitings.

Ask him to avoid sour, spicy, and junk food.

Ask him to avoid consumption of alcohol.

If needed, endoscopy has to be done to look for any problem in the stomach.

Consult his doctor for follow up.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
