Fractured sternum. Still in pain. Whom should I consult?

I fractured my sternum in a car accident November 21st, and am still having pain. I have been to see a General Practitioner, and a physical therapist. The regular doctor told me it should be healed (as of December 26th), and denied my request for an additional x-ray to see if it was healing properly. Should I see an Orthopedic Specialist?

Thanks for writing to us.
After the fracture of sternum, if adequate rest is not provided with the use of a chest belt, the healing may be delayed and the pain may persist. It is best to consult an orthopedician for a proper examination.
