Fractured Pelvis Since Than It Become Numb, Pain Bending At Waist. Any Suggestion?

I slipped going down the stairs two nights ago and went up in the air and landed on the back of the right side of my pelvis. Since then the area has been numb (I can hardly feel my fingers if I touch it) and it's extremely painful (more like impossible) for me to bend over at the waist. A pain shoots through the right side of my pelvis if I laugh or sneeze. Sitting up is painful, but laying down on my back relieves the constant dull ache. I can lay in the fetal position on either side without any pain, but turning over from my back to my side is very painful.

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

All your symptoms in the description are highly suggestive of a soft tissue contusion.

An Xray of the pelvis is needed to rule out any bony injury.

The general treatment guidelines of this condition are as follows -

- Take Rest and do not do any activities that cause pain till the acute pain subsides
- Apply ice or a cold pack to the painful area for 15 to 20 minutes, 4 times a day for several days. Wrap the ice or cold pack in a towel. Do not apply the ice directly to your skin.
- Take ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) to help relieve pain
- Use heat only when you are returning to physical activity. Then use it before stretching. Gentle heating can help loosen the muscle
- When the acute pain is gone, start gentle stretching exercises. Stay within pain limits. Hold each stretch for about 10 seconds and repeat 6 times.
- Physical therapy may speed up the recovery process. Therapeutic modalities such as Ultrasound, Massaging and specific exercises will be helpful.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
