Foot Pain, Increases During Rest. X-ray Normal. Suggestions?
I have been having foot pain/ache which initially started at the big toe joint on bottom/side of foot but only after running a number of miles. Recently, I have been having constant foot ache on top of foot where the big toe joint is. My shoes feel uncomfortable and tight (even tho they are not). My X-ray was normal. I am unable to see a specialist for a few weeks. I am just at a loss of what is going on and very frustrated. I teach group fitness and run and have really lessened my workout frequency and intensity. Should I not exercise on it if it doesnt bother me much while exercising? It seems to ache more at night when I am not doing anything. Please advise.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The pain in the foot that increases on rest is likely to be related to an inflammation in the area. It could be related to arthritis or plantar fasciitis. Taking rest, doing hot fomentation and taking mild pain killers will help. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal , drtayal72@gmail.com
