Fluttering Of Left Temple That Causes Teeth On The Left Side To Chatter After A Small Stroke

I am a 50 year old female who suffered a small stroke a few months ago causing some left side weakness. Since then I have been experiencing fluttering of the left temple which also causes the teeth on the left side to chatter. What is causing this and should I be concerned?

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and based on that, we need to exclude a diagnosis of partial seizures.

In some people, seizures can develop after a brain stroke, called as post-stroke epilepsy.

An evaluation by a neurologist, followed by MRI brain and electroencephalography (EEG) would help in confirming the diagnosis.

There are good anti-seizure medications, which would help prevent the recurrence of partial seizures.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

Best wishes,
