Fever, Body Pain, Headache, Stiff Neck, Tired. Viral Meningitis?

My 23 y/o daughter is away at college. She calls c/o fever up to 103.3, body aches, headache, light sensitivity and a mildly stiff neck for 4 days. She is eating and drinking well and has no confusion and is tired but alert. I am concerned that she may have viral meningitis. I am a PA but work in urology and have no experience with this. My worry is that she could have bacterial meningitis. What do you think?

I would suggest to get a CSF analysis done in the laboratory which will clearly differentiate between Viral & bacterial meningitis.Since the spinal fluid has to be tapped for the analysis you have to suggest your daughter to approach nearest hospital or a nursing home and get this done with the consultation of the resident doctor/physician.Hope I have answered your question.
