Fell, Extensive Soft Tissue Damage, Gave Plastic Cast Thing. Use Walking Boot?
My daughter fell on weds. Finally got the xray read and they say no fracture soft tissue damage extensive. I am concerned this happened on a college campus. They gave her a plastic cast thing but it does not look supportive. She should be able to start putting weight on it when? She needs to get to her classes, what is the best way to get her walking again? Should I purchase some kind of walking boot?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hi and Thanks for your query. For soft tissue injury over foot, it will take usually 10-15 days to heal. It is better to not put weight for 7 days. After this period she can start putting weight .She can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. I do hope that you have found something helpful and informative and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care.
