Hi,
Since both are suffering from the same type and your doctor has diagnosed as lipoma, this may be the diagnosis. You can take NSAID like Ibuprofen for pain and since it is getting bigger you can get done biopsy to diagnose if any other cause. This wont progress to any cancer, so if for cosmetic purpose you can get them excised.

Hope this helps you.

General & Family Physician Dr. Chobufo Ditah's  Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about the lipomas that have been disturbing you and your son.

Lipomas can be treated. Surgical removal takes care of symptoms. However, because they are many and more than one person has it in the family you need to get evaluated for possible conditions like adiposis dolorosa, Madelung disease, Cowden syndrome and Gardner's syndrome, have an increased risk of multiple lipomas.Talk to your doctor and get these addressed. If he/she still maintains that there is no treatment please get a second opinion from another doctor in the area. You may see some more summary on this at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/lipoma/DS00634/METHOD=print

I hope this helps and I wish you well.
