Type II diabetes is caused due to lifestyle changes, obesity and stress. But type I diabetes is an autoimmune disease that can affect children and young adults. LADA(late onset autoimmune diabetes in adult) is another condition which your relative may be having. Consult her doctor. He may advise her for tests like 1. GAD antibodies and 2. Serum insulin levels which is diagnostic of Type I diabetes.
Hello, Presence of sugar in urine gives a strong suspicion of diabetes and should be properly investigated for diabetes by getting blood sugar fasting and PP done. If diabetes is absent, then the reason for her extremely high LDL and low HDL seems to be genetic in nature. In any case high LDL levels are a risk factor in itself but if accompanied by low HDL,the risk becomes multifold and so she should be put on STATINS. She should also be treated for low iron levels. Thanks
