Experiencing Stitch Like Pain On The Upper Left Side Of The Rib Cage

I have had a gastric band for about 4 years and and for the last few weeks I have been having a stitch like pain in my upper left side around my rib cage which comes and goes. I am not sure if it is related to the band or not but can become quite uncomfortable.

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Stitch like pain in left side of chest is commonly seen in heart diseases and pleurisy (inflammation of pleura).
So get done ecg and 2d echo to rule out heart diseases.
Most common cause for pleurisy is lung infection.
So get done chest x ray to rule out lung infection.
If all these are normal than no need to worry for heart diseases and pleurisy.
Then possibility of gastric band related pain is more.
So consult gastroenterologist and get done upper GI scopy to rule out this.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
