Experiencing Many Symptoms Of Heart Disease. Lost My Brother To It. Am I Suffering From Depression? Suggestions?

I am a 65 YO experiencing many syjmptoms of heart disease. I am especially concerned as my brother passed away 2 nights ago from a heart attack, therefore, I am especially concerned.. My brother had additional problems as he constantly battled with his weight, chain smoking, diet, exercise. On the other hand, my symptoms do not mirror his. I am more likely to suffer from depression, chest pain, shortness of breath, etc. I would also like to find a good cardiologist in the Chapel Hiil, NC area. If you have comments, please forward.

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
I can appreciate the apprehension you are going through due to your symptoms and recent death of your brother.
You are also 65 years you should get full medical check up to see status of your health and treat accordingly. You will certainly find Cardiologist and medical centre where you can be investigated and taken care.
You should be examined by Cardiologist and investigate like Complete blood count, Fasting blood sugar, Post prandial blood sugar, Lipid profile, Liver Kidney function, Uric acid, 12 Lead EKG, 2 D echocardiography, X ray chest , Lung function tests and Stress test.
Further tests depend on result of investigations.
If required Coronary angiography may be done.
Regular physical exercise, taking care of diet, avoiding alcohol and smoking if there.
Hope this helps
Take care
Good Luck
