Enlarged Prostate, Poor Urine Flow, Dribbling Urine, Difficulty Urinating. Taking Afdura. Due For Surgery?

I am 68 and have suffered from a slew of symptoms of enlarged prostate, such as poor flow of urine, dribbling, poor stream, difficulty urinating as well as urgency and frequency of urination, for many years. The problem has now become quite acute. The latest ultra sound scan shows Grade 4 prostatomegaly. The urinary bladder was well distended with smooth wall. No calculus or mass lesion was seen within. The pre void volume was 6277 cc and the post void 121 cc. I have been put on Afdura.
Am I due for surgery? Does trans urethral resection of prostate have any side-effects? I am sexually active. Will the procedure have any impact on the libido or the potency? I would need your expert advice.

Benign Enlargement of Prostate with significant post void residue of 121 cc of urine,
You have planned Trans Urethral Resection of Prostate (TURP)

This is gold standard procedure for prostate resection accepted and practices world wide.

Since bladder neck is resected during this surgery you will face problem of retrograde ejaculation.

There will not be any ill effect on your sexual potency or libido..

Please go ahead and get operated to resolve the issue and improve quality of life.
