Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Variocele can cause infertility in men. However it is not necessary. In some cases there may be no symptoms & no infertilty issues in patients diagnosed with variocele. Normally testis has blood supply from vessels originating in abdomen. Upward flow of blood in the veins is ensured by small one-way valves that prevent backflow. Defective valves, or compression of the vein by a nearby structure, can cause dilatation of the testicular veins near the testis, leading to the formation of a varicocele. Variocele can be treated by a surgery or non-surgical treatments. Varicocele surgery may improve fertility in those with abnormal semen report and abnormal sperm. In cases of normal semen analysis & no symptoms, variocele surgery may not be necessary. Non surgical alternative to surgery is embolization.
