Hi,

I can understand your concern regarding the safety of salbutamol while suffering from a white patch on the vocal cord.

Yes, salbutamol inhaler is very effective in relieving difficulty in breathing associated with airway diseases.

Salbutamol is a selective beta2 receptor agonist commonly prescribed for the symptomatic relief of bronchospasm ('narrowing of smaller airways') associated with air way diseases.

There is no documented evidence of salbutamol causing or worsening leukoplakia of the vocal cords, hence salbutamol can be taken safely.

However, long term use of inhaled corticosteroids can cause hoarseness of voice and candida infection of the vocal cords.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
