Does Toprol Help In Controlling High BP?
49 yr old female, 135lbs, history of high bp was stable at 135/84... recent sudden severe headache w/ nausea found bp to be 200/110-- been on toprol 50 mg 3 days increased to 100mg 3days bp still averaging 185/110- shouldnt i see improvement in bp on these meds by now?

According to JACC blood pessure is catagorised as-
Normal b.p less then 120/80
Prehypertensive state - 120-139/80-89
Grade 1 (mild hypertension)-140-159/90-99
Grade 2 (moderate hypertension)-160-179/100-109
Grade 3( severe) - above 180/110
You fall in catagory of severe hypertension
medically iits called hypertensive emergency , medicine will be administered to you intravenuosly, once bp is settled you will be shifted to oral medicine, toprevent end organ damage immediate intravenous (IV) parenteral therapy is required, consult ER.
