Does Thrush Cause Yellow Crust On Infected Nipples?
Does thrush cause a yellow crust/scab on infected nipples? Noticed a few white dots in my nursling s mouth the past few days and now my right nipple has a yellow rough patch. No pain or anything though. Does this sound like thrush? My son is 16 months old and eats yogurt daily and is on a probiotic so it seems crazy to be thrush.

Thrush on nipples is fungal infection of the nipples.
Thrush occurs due to cracked nipples or sore nipples.
Presence of white spots in your baby's mouth is also suggestive of thrush.
Thrush in baby's mouth presents as white patch on tongue, gums and roof of the mouth.
Yogurt and probiotics help to grow the bacteria which control the thrush, however, persistence of thrush despite using probiotics is an indication for adding anti-fungal treatment.
Both you and baby need to be treated simultaneously since the infection can spread from baby to nipples and vice versa.

As you mentioned, it could possibly be thrush. Impetigo,a bacterial infection, can also cause yellow crusted lesions as well.
If it is thrush then an anti fungal would be needed but impetigo is treated with topical and/or oral antibiotics.
