My RBS has shown 260...this is the first time my sugar is high,,,I have been advised cetapin xr 500 mg -(half a tablet after breakfast and half tablet after dinner).. Does this tablet cause hypoglecemia.. I have joined a gym to workout and to reduce weight. I am 54 years old. i do not want to take diabetes tablet for long and i would liek to bring it under control with diet/exercise and weight reduction.

cetapin XR 500 1/2-0-1/2 is metformin made by Sanofi
as such i am doubtful whether this dose would cause hypoglycemia rather even bring down ur sugars
but in my experience with this brand patients have complained of more weakness and gastric upset when compared to its counterparts.
taking metformin with diet and exercise is a Gud idea to get ur sugars under control
then again u would need to take some sort of medications to control ur diabetes - this us inevitable
