Does The Hip Replacement Leaves A Long Scar And Causes Disfigurement?

I had a hip replacement which all went well. However, I am concerned about the results on how my hip looks. I know this sounds vain but I didn't have this before surgery. I asked the dr about it and they said to go buy Spanx which would smooth out the hip. The hip is quite disfigured- i have deep crevix where the scare is which is right on top of the bone because it is still sensitive after 2 years. I have look at other peoples hips after hip surgery and they don't have it. My scare is about 11 inches long and looks like a cane. It looks as though it was some of the muscle was cut out. I don't know if it can get fix but I am not happy about. I was 64 when I had surgery and a runner so I was in pretty good shape. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi ,
There are different approaches for hip replacement surgery out of which anterior approach has smaller incision than other . In any approach muscles , joint capsules are cut n separated to reach joint n perform replacement and then they are lighted back.None of the approach has 11inches long inscision until some complicated condition present.
Once any surgery done with skin inscision it always gives a scar mark but it is inevitable as you replacement was more important than scar.
So now my opinion would be to decrease you scar mark through applying a placental extract combination (contactubex ointment ) locally and make a film over it thrice a day. If it doesn't shows result then go for dermaroller application , revision scar surgeries under plastic surgeon.

Thanks n regards
