Does Takingtramadol 50 Mg For 2 Nights Lower Potassium Level Significantly?

can taking tramadol 50 mg for 2 nights (then cut to 25 mg for 5 nights) lower your potassium level? My mom, 89 years old, developed hallucinations, a severe anxiety attack, etc. Hospital only found low potassium. Stopped tramadol and started potassium supplements , was normal about a day later. (Her potassium level was 2.4 in hospital, now 4.8.) Thanks.

Hi,
Tramadol does not lower potassium levels. The reason your mother's potassium levels came up was the supplements given to her. Low potassium does not usually cause hallucinations and anxiety.
Regards,
Dr K A Pottinger
