Does Taking Antibiotics Post Root Canal Surgery Cause Side Effects?

Hello Doc. Recently while chewing chicken bone my lower chewing teeth on the left side was broken and the broken part of the teeth was removed after a visit to the Dentist. The doc told me to do root canal and that the tooth can be saved. There is no pain in the teeth as of now ( The teeth was removed 2 days back). I was prescribed Fightox antibiotic for 5 days for the root canal treatment.. Just have a query whether the antibiotic will have any side effect..

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Fightox tablet is an antibiotic combination containing active ingredient Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium and is appropriate for treatment of dental infections..

As far as aide effects are concerned each and every medication has some or the other side effects but does not necessarily reflect in every individual..

Although antibiotics can commonly cause stomach upset leading to hyperacidity, loose motions etc,,
Therefore Proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole are given along to prevent side effects..

One more information that I would like to give you is that if you have broken tooth that is indicated for Root Canal Treatment then you need to get it done to prevent occurrence of pain in tooth And will also prevent it from further decay.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
