Does Taking Coreg Cause Cough?

I ve had open heart surgery within the last year, I am a diabetic, and I have been diagnosed with CHF; and my question is, I am taking Coreg 6.25 mg and I have had a dry cough for over five months now. I have taken antibiotics and cough medicines to no avail. I have had x-rays of the chest and there are no problems, showing in the x-rays. Could Coreg be causing this cough?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Yes, Coreg can cause such side effects like dry cough. Some medicines especially for high blood pressure can result in a dry cough.

Common Coreg side effects may also include:
- chest pain
- dry eyes
- tired
- weight gain
- shortness of breath

If you feel that you can not handle with cough i suggest you to make an appointment with your doctor so that he or she may decide to change you treatment.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
