Does Swelling And Darkening Of Hand Indicate Necrotizing Fasciitis?

my left hand is swollen and i feel pain whenever i touch and bend my metacarpophalangeal joints. The edema then spreads to my whole hand to the wrist. It is not responding very well to clarithromycin and a third generation cephlosporin. It has been almost two weeks since I have this problem. Now, my hand appears a bit dark in colour, but the edema subsided a bit after i started to take diclofenac, could that indicate something more worrying like necrotizing fasciitis? thanks.

hi
I would suggest to continue diclofenac , probably inflammation due to arthritis in joints is the cause.Have an x ray of hand done and show an orthosurgeon. short course of prednisone may be helpful also if your doctor agrees. Do hot fomentation.A bone scan also can reveal any osteomyelitis (bone infection)
I find this answer helpful
