Does Stomach Bloating, Headache And Joint Pain Indicate Symptom Of Stomach Flu?

Hello. Yesterday morning a bloating sensation in my stomach woke me up. Immediately after I started having a heartburn and be nauseous. Ended up throwing up a yellow very bitter liquid. I felt better for a few minutes then I went back to bed because I was feeling weak. Woke up after 3 hours with a 37,0 C fever and now after 12 hours it s 38,3 C. I have to mention that since I threw up I had no abdominal symptoms, no nausea, rarely a mild headache, but a lot of muscles and joint pain. Could these be the symptoms of a stomach flu? I do not take any kind of drugs, neither do unusual activities.I suffer of a mild gastritis. I had two eggs with bacon the night before getting sick.

Hello,

You are having stomach bloating, headache, joint pain, nausea. You have also thrown up. Presently, you are having muscle and joint pain. Your symptoms are indicative of food poisoning. Avoid taking packaged food. Always take fresh food. Muscle pain commonly occur due to tension, stress, overuse and dehydration. Take rest let your body heal. Avoid eating for a few hours. After that start with bland foods (cookies, biscuits, toasts, crackers).

Take water, warm beverage to help maintain blood glucose level and blood pressure. Low BP, low blood glucose level, low K and Na level also causes muscle and joint pain. Take water, soup and juice to supplement. You might also try oral rehydration solutions. Stay away from addictions if any. To feel better, take acetaminophen, one SOS when needed. If needed you can take PPI's, Pan-40, one stat when discomfort.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
