I have recently been diagnosed with Haemachromotosis and have had 4 venesections to date. I have had a sore throat on and off for the last 3-4 months, swapping sides and severity. I have taken two course of antibiotics which work for a while and then the symptoms return. Is there any connection to the Haemochromotosis? I am a 59 year old female.
in my opinion this throat infection is separate from hemochromatosis. it most likely be just a viral infection, but in your case this could be side effects of drugs you are taking for hemochromatosis. I would recommend you to avoid antibiotics. and take palliative treatment in form of antihistaminic medication. avoid cold drinks and take hot bath steam inhalation, chlorhexidine gargles. also I would recommend you to take multivitamin and folic acid and antioxidants to boost your immunity.
