Does Smoking Have Any Effect On The Pregnancy Test?

Hello i am Allana , i took a home pregnancy test last thursday evening it was positive with a light second line showing , so i waited till morning and used a diffrent btand of jome pregnancy test and showed negative then i waited till after 8am , and took another test with a different brabd , and showed positive with the second line light but viewable , then i took one this morning early and showed negative , does smoking cause low HCG readings in home pregnacy tests ?

Hi Allana,
Smoking is highly unlikely to be causing the low HCG levels. In the initial stages of pregnancy, the HCG levels will be very low and different brands have different sensitivity to detect such low levels. This is probably on elf the reason you are getting mixed results. And some of them might show false positives also.
I would advice you to get a consultation with obstetrician and undergo other tests to confirm pregnancy. Hope the above information helps you. Thanks.
