Does Smoking Marijuana Reduce The Effectiveness Of Plan-B?

So I just smoked a little pot without even thinking about the fact I just took Plan B. about 30 minutes ago. I was just wigging out, having to rush to a corner store isn t fun. So, I just really want to know if the weed will offset the contaseptive somehow? I mean, I don t think the 2 have anything to do with each other but I m just making sure.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi!
I can understand your concern regarding the efficacy of Plan-B after smoking Marijuana.
Marijuana can decrease the efficacy of the pill & thus making it less effective.
Plan B is up to 95 % effective in preventing pregnancy if taken within 24 hours of having sex. Smoking marijuana can increase the metabolism & hence clearance of Plan-B from the body thus rendering it less effective.
Therefore, Marijuana smoking should be avoided for a week after taking Plan-B.
Hope this answers your query.
