Does Severe Pain In The Chest And Under Arms Indicate Gallbladder Problems?

I have severe pain after I eat and for years we thought it was just reflux, but my pain is so severe in the upper back, under my arms and I get shortness of breath. Of course the pain is also in the middle of my chest as if I am haveing a heart attack. Could this be the gallbladder?

Hello,

The pain you describe is not typical of gallbladder origin. Gallbladder pain can start after eating as it is happening in your case but is generally in the upper right side of the tummy and sometimes it can radiate in the right shoulder.

Still the best way to know is to have an examination with your doctor and possibly an ultrasound. Ultrasound is very sensitive to gallbladder problems and is generally an easily accessible and not expensive examination.
GERD (reflux from the stomach) can cause similar problems as well, it will not be determined with the ultrasound. Depending on the age, the heart can be considered and lungs as well as the cause of the pain and if all tests come out normal (abdominal ultrasound and examination of the stomach) then checks for the heart and lungs might be indicated.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
