Does Salmonella Cause Any Type Of Skin Rash?

Can salmonella cause any type of skin rash? My daughter has an unexplained rash all over these and arms and has recently been eating pistachios. Just found out that they have been recalled for salmonella and am fearful that she may have gotten a slight case of salmonella

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern
I think it is pistachio allergy rather than salmonella as rash is seen all over body.
But
Salmonella rashes typically appear in the anterior trunk and looks like lump generally 3-4 week after illness.
It last for 3-6 days, it is due to bacterial spread through blood stream.

Pistachio can cause allergy and produce rash all over body and it is associated with itching, breathlessness, runny nose and abdominal pain.
For this take cold bath and shower
Take antihistaminic lotion and tablet
If severe hydrocortisone ointment

Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
