Mild headache for almost two months with recurring sinus infection. Treated twice with antibiotics. Can this cause short term memory loss? My husband who is 63 is showing signs of memory loss, more noticeable when driving, keep asking same questions, doesn t remember his hairbrush or toothbrush... Im concern, because he has struggling with sinus problems for months now. Thank you

Hi There

After going through your query I understand your concern.

I would like to tell you that memory loss can be an age related change , symptoms of dementia or can be associated with sinusitis as chronic sinusitis can rarely cause a brain infection. Predominantly his symptoms asking same question repeatedly and misplacing things, getting lost while walking or driving are indicative of dementia.

kindly consult with a Physican/ Neurologist for proper evaluation and management .

Hope to have been helpful.

Kind Regards
Dr. Navneet Bansal
