Does Prolonged Use Of Hair Serum Have Any Side Effects?
Hi I have severe hair fall problem. My hair has become considerably thin. i consulted a dermatologist and he had suggested a serum (Q sera and KeraXL) and some vitamin tablets. I am not sure if I need to use the serum. Will that have any harmful effects and is it like I need to use them for long time? Thanks
Hello, these medications you mention are not harmful per se in long term. But Androgenetic alopecia or Male pattern Baldness is a progressive condition, like ageing skin and once you stop the medications the hair gained by any medications are going to shed off sometimes slowly and return to your original state (pre-treatment hair). In some cases the hair growth may last longer than expected even after stopping the treatment. Medical management of male pattern hair loss aims at gaining hair till the age you want (typically which is 5-6 years) and then letting the natural process take over. Later in life if you want a permanent solution for hair loss then hair transplantation is the procedure of choice.
