Does Prolonged Usage Of Meftalspas Have Any Side Effects?
Hello doctor thank u for reaching out to help us in easy ways. M 23 yrs normal weight girl and i suffer from very painful cramps during my first 3days of period i have taken meftalspas Does it hav any side effects or any harm in long run and i also have brown dischrages heavy wetting ones before periods is it normal what do i do ?..thank u
Mefenamic acid is an NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) & can cause GI side effects like abdominal pain; dyspepsia etc and should always be taken after food; it can also cause kidney damage on prolonged intake. Hence its use should be restricted for 2-3 days only.
Brown spotting or discharge (old blood) before the start of the period is often normal. Consult a Gynecologist for dysmenorrhea(painful periods, or menstrual cramps).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
