Does Presence Of Bicornuate Uterus Increase Chances Of Cervical Cancer?

I am 23 years old. About 3 months ago I had a sonogram to research severe lower abdominal pain, which they told me was a ruptured cyst. I was told a few years ago that my left ovary moves, which I assumed had something to do with the pain. Anyway, during this sonogram, they discovered I have a bicornuate uterus. They didn t say how severe. Was advised to hold off on further tests until I am ready for children due to the price of said tests. I had a Well Woman exam the following month; my first in 2 years. They said my pap came back abnormal. They did a biopsy, and I was originally told that I had advanced dipaysia in one spot in my cervix, and non-invasive adenocarcinoma on another spot in my cervix as well as in my uterus. Today I had a LEEP procedure, and was told they were removing a malignant tumor. I feel uneasy about the quick progressionof diagnosis and lack of communication from my doctors. Could you possibly offer more insight in what I should be doing or worrying about? Also, I was wo dering if by chance you know how common it is for this...cervical cancer to appear in bicornuate uterus patients? I can t seem to find much on that combination.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Bi-cornuate uterus is a structural abnormality of uterus.
It is not associated with cervical dysplasia or cancer.
Bi-cornuate uterus is actually the single uterine cavity divided into two by partial or complete septum.
It can lead to menstrual irregularities or difficulty in implantation of fertilized ovum.
The fertilized ovum attaches itself to the uterine wall.
In case structural abnormality of uterus, there may be difficulty in implantation.
Cervical dysplasia or cancer both are separate entities.
Risk factor for cervical dysplasia and cancer are early sexual activity, multiple sexual partners, infection with HPV etc.
Thus, after undergoing LEEP procedure, you need to undergo screening with Pap test to look for any dysplastic changes in the cervical cells.

Thanks and take care
