I just had an hiv test at the doctors the other day. I am a little concerned. I am recently married. It had been around 8 years since I was with anyone except now with my husband that I had unprotected sex. Many places online say no symptons may show for 10 or more years. Thats pretty scary. I had to get tested because I am expecting my first child. In pregnant woman, are there any signs to show could be hiv positive?
8 years are long time and HIV can't be transmitted in such a long time even if assuming you had relationship that time and variability of incubation period of HIV , though the only way to confirm HIV is the blood test, which you have already done . Symptoms are meaningless Many people don't even KNOW when they were first exposed NOT everyone gets symptoms AND (most importantly) The symptoms are identical with MANY other viral infections, including the common cold. The correct thing you have done and let the result come , which in probability would come negative . Through blood tests ,not only you know your status , but also know lot of things about HIV /AIDS, which will help to allay your fears. Hope this helps.Regards
