A fellow I work with here said he had pain in his arm. It is his left arm and is inside opposite of his elbow. I didn't want to worry him, but my brother had a heart attack and it started with pain in his lower arm. Was wondering if I should tell him that.
Dear..pain of cardiac origin that we call angina is typically described as retrosternal chest discomfort diffuse and pressure like.it is aggrevated by exertion and relieved on taking rest or sorbitate . It some time radiate to left or right upper limb up to lower jaw and below up to umbilicus it may or may not be associated be breathlessness sweating or dizziness . But it is not uncommon that patients will say pain on left upper limb on exertion ..We have look for some cardiac risk factors such as age more than 40 male sex smoker diabetic hypertensive dyslipidemia family history of cardiac illness .If we have risk factors we have to take extra precaution . If their is suspicion consult to a physician get an ecg test done. Diagnosis of angina is clinical that is we need to ask few questions and decide what to do..so plz consult your physician if pain recurs especially with exertion and get relieved on taking rest.hope this will help.
