Does My Friend Has Compound Syndrome?
I have a friend that just came out of surgery from compound syndrome ? He fell off a skateboard and though he broke his elbow or arm but they said not fracture but had compound syndrome and rushed him into surgery. Can you please explain this to me?

You friend must have developed 'compartment syndrome' and not 'compound syndrome'. In 'compartment syndrome' there is an increase in pressure within the forearm/arm/leg depending on the site affected. It follows trauma to the forearm/arm or leg respectively.
Symptoms include numbness of the affected body part and loss of distal pulses. However, distal pulses may be present in many cases. Treatment of this condition is emergency fasciotomy.
