Does Medication For Acid Reflux Cause Painful Chest And Mucus In Throat?
I've had acid reflux for two years. I've been on a prescription medicine to help since then. It's only recently that I've been feeling bad. I went off my medicine for two days and I haven't been the same since. My asthma symptoms have changed. I'm burping a lot to feel better. My chest hurts. Off and on difficulty swallowing. Mucus in my throat. Is it something worse?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
These symptoms painful chest and mucus in throat should be linked to worsening of acid reflux due to stoppage of medicines. These symptoms in you are not serious. Normally gastro- esophageal reflux syndrome patients need regular daily medicines to prevent reflux of gastic contents into esophagous or throat. Stopping of medicines will cause heartburn, soreness of throat, acidic taste etc.
so you should again start taking your medicines as previously prescribed to you
If problem persist visit your gastroenterologist Hope this information helps
