Does Marijuana Help In Keeping Blood Sugar And Blood Pressure Down?

i have stopped smoking marijuana after 40 yrs. I've noticed that my blood sugar and blood pressure have risen from normal ranges to higher than normal (in the last 5 weeks since quitting) on both sugar and pressure. Did the weed actually keep it down?

hello user , that is a interesting question of yours which led me to do a search for the same in the medical literature . what i found is that yes - a study published in american journal of medicine reported that diabetics who smoke weed had better sugar control than those who did not, probably related to decreasing insulin resistance - however the subjects were "diabetics" and thus results should not be generalised to all persons . secondly it is reported that in cannabis withdrawl period a rise in blood pressure is seen - Thus your findings can be understood in these terms , but considering the other harmful effects of marijuana and smoke with availability of safer alternative medicines for sugar and BP control - one should not resort to marijuana use , especially you achieved the feet of quitting it despite forty years of use which is appreciable , so better consult a physician for these concerns regarding blood pressure and sugar as they may be very well "independent problems" as i assume that you are atleast in middle age and get yourself evaluated and managed accordingly . hope i answered your query - if satisfied please rate the answer
