Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the last couple of days I have been developing itchy bumps starting with my arms and now has progressed to my legs and some of my stomach and back. Me and my girlfriend sleep in the same bed and she has none of the same symptoms, I think that it may be an allergic reaction but I am unsure of what could cause the bumps. I have not changed lotion or bodywash, although I did just start using a loofa when I shower. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Understanding your concern. As per your query you are wondering if loofa cause itchy bumps which is a common skin condition in which hair follicles become inflamed which is usually caused by a bacterial or fungal infection leading to ffolliculitis. Major reason for its occurrence is friction and other reasons are heat , sweat and dermatitis. Yes it can spread through loofah , so seprate one. I would suggest you to keep that area dry , wear loose cloths. You should apply a warm, moist washcloth or compress and apply soothing lotions. You should gently wash the infected skin twice a day with antibacterial soap. Take diet rich in fluids. Consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or antifungal medicine along with procedure like light therapy .
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
