I have used smokeless tobacco for a few years and I ve been working on quitting, but I have noticed since cutting down that my lower lip feels thick and isn t pink inside but a light yellowish color, when I went to the dentist a month ago he didn t seem concerned, but I am, should I be?
As per your query your lips turn yellowish after quitting smoking is because while smoking your saliva production gets adversely affected. Saliva production is very important for your oral cavity, as it cleans the lining of the teeth and the mouth, thereby protecting it from decay. When salivary production is low food and nicotine particles keeps on sticking in lower lip lining and continued accumulation start giving discoloration.
Another reason is flow of bile in the blood gets interrupted because of smoking, due to that obstruction mouth environment stays acidic and start causing discoloration.
I would suggest you to put the tip of your finger, dab a small amount of almond oil and cream on to your lips. One of the best ways in which you can retain the color of your lips is by scrubbing them with some fresh lemon. This is because lemon contain natural bleaching properties. Drink alot water. Take improved diet. Crush strawberries along with baking soda and water and take that, best remedy to improve your lip color tone.
