Does Intake Of Prilosec For A Long Term Harm The Kidneys?
My husand has been on Prilosec for about three years. He is having very frequent urination, pain in both the bladder and kidney area, loose bowels. We are worried that the medicine might be affecting his kidneys. Your suggestion would be appreciated.
Loose bowels could be due to stomach issues he is having. Should run stool analysis, and culture and sensitivity testing to determine the right diagnosis.
Meanwhile, I suggest taking probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora and antacids after a meal. Discuss my advice with your caring doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician

Does Intake Of Prilosec For A Long Term Harm The Kidneys?
Hello, We do not recommend to take Prilosec for long periods unless determined by upper endoscopy and from your gastroenterologist advice. Frequent urination could be due to kidney infection or/and enlarged prostate. Should run urine analysis, abdominal ultrasound and check PSA in the blood to confirm.
