Hello and welcome to HCM,
Norethisterone is a congener of progesterone.
Progesterone and its congeners act by regularizing menstrual cycle.
Abnormalities of menstrual cycle can be due to variation in duration of menstrual cycles or variation of amount of menstrual flow.
Progesterone acts by correcting these abnormalities in a menstrual cycle.
Progesterones are generally prescribed in case of irregular ologistor pronged menstrual cycles.
The shortening of menstrual cycles can be due to effect of progesterone.
However, you can visit a gynecologist for clinical assessment and to ensure correct management.

Thanks and take care
