Does Intake Of Norethisterone Shorten The Menstrual Cycle?
Hi. Can norethisterone pills reduce the number of days of my period? What I mean is, I take 6 days on period and then I took the pill on day 1 of my period im now on the third day.bt the bleeding is now very light. So can the pill reduce my 6 day period to maybe 4 or 3 days?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Norethisterone is a congener of progesterone. Progesterone and its congeners act by regularizing menstrual cycle. Abnormalities of menstrual cycle can be due to variation in duration of menstrual cycles or variation of amount of menstrual flow. Progesterone acts by correcting these abnormalities in a menstrual cycle. Progesterones are generally prescribed in case of irregular ologistor pronged menstrual cycles. The shortening of menstrual cycles can be due to effect of progesterone. However, you can visit a gynecologist for clinical assessment and to ensure correct management.
