Does Inhalation Of Skunk Spray Harm An Infant?

My grandson is a year old and is sick with a cold and whooping cough. We just let our dog out and she ran after a skunk and got sprayed. We let her come in the house, but it s a heavy Oder of skunk smell. My question is .. Is it harmful for my year old grandson to breathe in while he s sick?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is better to avoid close contact with children. Children exposed to pet animals are at a higher risk for developing conditions like asthma and allergy in the future. One episode of contact doesn’t cause any harm.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
