Does Hernia Cause Pain In The Groin Area And Sore Throat?
Hi. For the past two weeks I have had a sore throat coupled with pain in the left groin area. The pain is erratic...it comes and goes. Some days I feel better than others. I have also recently discovered that I have a hernia (the size of a golf ball) just above my navel. Sometimes it protrudes slighty; at other times it is not noticeable. Could these three things all be connected? I don t feel myself at all.
Generally hernia (iguainal or umbilical hernia) never causes pain over groin and remain asymptomatic inmost of cases but in some cases, when there is obstruction to the neck of hernia sac and if blood supply is blocked then those hernia may cause pain and needs immediate medical attention.
Hernia and could could be linked together.Actually chronic cough from sore throat could be the exaggerating factor for inguinal hernia along with abdominal wall weakness.
In your case, you are likely to be having reducible hernia since you said it protrudes and sometimes not noticeable.
I think you will require immediate medical-surgical consultation who will examine your hernia sites and can order ultrasound with further operative management.
