Does Heart Pumping Blood Slowly Cause Breathing Problem?
my doctor just told me that I have a lazy heart. I knew I had enlarged left ventricle mirtral valve prolapse with regurgetation. now after pet scan he says I have a lazy heart. That my heart pumps blood out strong but is very slow lazy pumping it back in. I still don t know if that is causing my breathing problem.
Dear sir/madam, by ur description, you have significant mitral valve regurgitation that's why u are feeling breathing difficulty. There are certain parameters you should look in. Firstly cause of regurgitation. Whether that MVP is myxomatous or rheumatic in origin. And if rheumatic u have too assess rheumatic activity also. Cos treating rheumatic activity will reduce regurgitation and gives symptom relief. If these are all negative then we have to assess echocardiographyically the Left ventricle size( especially end systolic), left atrium size, Left ventricle function, pulmonary artery pressure, diastolic reversal in pulmonary veins on colour doppler. So better get evaluated by cardiologist. If they feel its significant disease, then treatment will be mitral valve repair/replacement ( endovadcular/surgical techniques). Hope u find this informative.
