Does Healing Aorta Dissection Require Major Operations?

Hi Dr. I have a aorta disection, the arch has been repaired and 3 C.T.(6 mo. apart) scans show now that it is healing 1.5 yrs from operation. Now Dr. wants to do C.T. in one yr. I take med's on a very ridge time frame. Keep B.P. 120/70 or lower. The dissection is all the way down to my lower branch to legs.

Is healing something that can happen, as a two part major operation was planned!!!! Age 67 white feel good just take it easy....

Hi, great achievement by you and your treating team. It is quite a good treatment done. Do not worry at all, as long as you keep your blood pressure under check with medications prescribed to you there should be nothing to worry about. Two part operation was probably not done as you do not have any malperfusion symptoms which means that the blood supply to important organs like spinal cord, intestines and kidneys are preserved in the presence of the Dissection so you do not need any surgery for it and are unlikely to need it as long as your blood pressure is in control. But if you feel any leg pain, abdominal pain, back pain, weakness or numbness, etc. you should report it to your treating Surgeons. All the best and you have been doing great. Congratulations. Take care and feel free to contact me anytime.
