Hi,

First, congratulations to your niece engagement. Wish her a lovely and happy life ahead.

Having diabetes mellitus does not mean that patients cannot have babies. The only problem is when these patients are developing neuropathies that would cause sexual problems like impotence or erectile dysfunction.

Otherwise, diabetics can have healthy babies, who might have increased chances to have diabetes later in life as diabetes is a hereditary condition.

Once again, diabetics can have a perfectly normal life and perfectly normal babies.

All the best!
