Does Having Dentures Impact The Effectiveness Of Antifungal Medications?

my brother is being treated for aml , is waiting for a bone marrow transplant, and has developed a fungal pneumonia.. the antifungal treatments do not seem to be helping, however , he wears full dentures and does not remove them at night.. my daughter is a dentist and has suggested nystatin.. when my sister-in-law suggested this to his drs , it was dismissed as unimportant.. would the antifungal rx he is being given treat a fungus if it was on his dentures? Hi there... what an antifungal drug is he on?No, i dont think the oral antifungal used for treating pneumonia would act on any fungi in his dentures. Well there is no proven fungus in his dentures, so the doctors didnt think nystatin is required. And why did you mention the antifungals are not working for the pneumonia.. are there any symptoms that suggest so. Kindly meet your pulmonologist and discuss the symptoms and a change of antifungal if required.take care
